Every few years we have new Tshirts made that reflect our theme for the next few years. This year's theme, Love, Share, Grow, and Serve, gives you some idea about our parishioners and their ministry in life. Love God, Share his love, Grow in his Love and Serve our Community.
Batesville United Methodist church is proud to have the Reverend Chris Renick as our Pastor. Pastor Chris, as he is known, walks his dog Milli a few times a day around Batesville. He is known to stop to see other dogs, bring them treats, and occasionally let their owners know that he is the pastor at BUMC. You may also see him in his 1972 Jeep Commando, and he will gladly tell you his story about how he came to own this vehicle. Pastor Chris walking his dog is precisely how the person who created this picture found out about BUMC. That is why we call it the Milli Ministry. If you would like to find out about BUMC and the exciting things we are doing in the Batesville Community, please feel free to reach out to us at Batesvilleumc@gmail.com or call us at 812-934-3137. You are always welcome to join us at 8am or 10am service in person or online at 10am service https://vimeo.com/event/5140619 or on Facebook or on Youtube.
A few years ago, Pastor Chris learned about a "Food Truck" program that another church had done. Food Trucks don't necessarily serve food. They feed the community through outreach and other ministries. From Crochet Octopus for Neonatal infants to Meals for those who are sick, etc., to our Chinese Outreach, we have many "Food Trucks" to feed the soul. It is an everyday part of the Batesville United Methodist Church. Are you passionate about giving back and want to learn more? - contact us at Batesvilleumc@gmail.com or call us at 812-934-3137. You are always welcome to join us at 8 am or 10 am service in person or online at 10 am service https://vimeo.com/event/5140619 or on Facebook or on YouTube.
Back in the 1800s and up through the early 20th century, there were two Methodist churches in Batesville. One did their services in English and one did theirs in German. These churches were actually located down the street from each other.
This little thing called WWI broke out and when the United States entered the war the church that did their service in German thought this wouldn't be a good idea anymore. So they switched to English services. In the early 1920's the German Church approached the English church about combining... Now, how could we do that? I know, let's move the small English church down the block and connect it to the German church. Today we have 8 am service in the Chapel (the English Church) and 10 am service in the Sanctuary (The German Church). And now you know the rest of the story..... Come join us on Sunday and enjoy a bit of Batesville History. I wonder how they moved it?
Every so often our talented team of parishioners will publish a blog. In this first installment...
The Wandering Methodist, Joe Roberts talks about a recent experience at NASA. Joe will be giving a sermon on this subject on March 30th at 10:00am at Batesville United Methodist Church.
Just a regular guy and God called him. We should all be so lucky!

United Methodists share a common heritage with other Christians, holding to the historic essentials of the Christian faith.
We believe the goal of the Christian life is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love your neighbor as you love yourself. From the beginning of the Methodist movement, we were known as “reasonable enthusiasts,”
